Took a week mountain biking in Spain
I'd just got my fancy new Cove Stiffee aka the best hard tail you can buy (back in 04 or something), and took a week long mountain biking holiday in Allora, near Malaga. Mean riding, cold beer and tasty food. Oh, and as much pea soup as you can drink.
Here's a video of what mountain biking in Southern Spain is like. I rode through cork farms, through gorges, baking hot hills, and over Roman roads, which were impressive but bumpy.

Long low shadows in Lyublyana
I don’t remember having shadows like this when I was growing up in NZ. They may have been there, but just for a few seconds as the sun set. Over in Slovenia, they seemed to be there all day.

On a train between Slovenia and Croatia
It's fun taking black & white photos, you pay more attention to other aspects. I like the mix of elements in this photos: the looming dark cliff on the left, the oily river flowing past me, the hazy blown-out view in the distance.

Cemeteries are interesting places
This is Mirogoj Cemetery in Zagreb. If you're looking for something interesting to do next time you're there, I recommend a visit. Posting old photos is hard. Each photo takes 20 minutes of research to recover just exactly where I was. Woah, those angles are messing with my eyes. Why didn't I straighten that photo?

Plague columns
or marian columns were a fairly common sight in Slovenia & Croatia. They are built in honour of the Virgin Mary, often to say thanks for ending a plague. I was impressed by the state of this one, it's super clean. Don't be fooled by my zooming, they're pretty tall, 2 or 3 storeys or even higher.
