Cemeteries are interesting places
This is Mirogoj Cemetery in Zagreb. If you're looking for something interesting to do next time you're there, I recommend a visit. Posting old photos is hard. Each photo takes 20 minutes of research to recover just exactly where I was. Woah, those angles are messing with my eyes. Why didn't I straighten that photo?

Plague columns
or marian columns were a fairly common sight in Slovenia & Croatia. They are built in honour of the Virgin Mary, often to say thanks for ending a plague. I was impressed by the state of this one, it's super clean. Don't be fooled by my zooming, they're pretty tall, 2 or 3 storeys or even higher.

This is a kurent
Or korant, a traditional carnival figure from Slovenia. Huge bells hung around his waist chase away Winter. There are also shaggy woollen versions, looking a bit like a homeless wookie. This guy seems very Native American to me. I think it's the feathers and buffalo head.

That's a pretty indignant tortoise
You should go to Marrakech. It’s super easy to find accommodation, the place is cheap, it’s safe and friendly, and you can find tiny tortoises wandering around. They also have chameleons on a stick which you can buy as pets.

Who needs a wide-angle lens
When you can find a broken piece of a giant christmas ornament in Ljubljana. Not me.
